Rapper Ian under investigation for abuse and intimidation using violent criminal organisations
Judicial sources told Gândul exclusively that the incident at Arenele Romane on 2 October has brought to light other possible criminal offences committed by Bogdan Georgian Anghel, known by the stage name Ian. The trap singer had been held for 24 hours after urinating on stage in front of an audience composed largely of teenagers, and was subsequently placed under judicial supervision for 60 days by prosecutors from the Office of the Prosecutor attached to the Court of Sector 4.
Officers from Section 14 police station opened an investigation of their own motion after video recordings appeared on social media and charged the artist with offending public decency. His band's comeback concert had taken place at Arenele Romane on 2 October.
Girls barely of legal age around the artist
According to the same judicial sources cited by Gândul, during the course of 2020, as his notoriety grew, Ian attracted a large number of young female fans around him, barely of legal age. The singer allegedly maintained multiple relationships but, against a background of drug use, would have regularly assaulted his partners.
To silence them, the rapper allegedly boasted that he had close relationships with dangerous individuals, including leaders of the Duduianu clan and the Sportivii group, two of the most well-known violent structures in Bucharest.
One victim went to police but missed the legal deadline
Investigators claim that at least one of the victims went to the police, but was no longer able to file a complaint. According to the law, for assaults requiring less than 90 days of medical care, the deadline for filing a complaint is three months. The woman decided to report the rapper only five months after the alleged assault, thus exceeding the legal deadline.
Musical career begun in adolescence
Ian is one of the well-known names on the Romanian trap scene. He began his musical activity in adolescence, initially performing alongside Azteca, before the two developed their careers separately. Later, the artist collaborated with artists such as Cabron and Theo Rose.
