Scandal at Brașov Maternity Hospital: police officers beaten, three people held for 30 days
Three people from Covasna county have been arrested on a preventive basis following a violent scandal that broke out in front of the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Hospital in Brașov, according to Digi24. The case concerns offences of contempt, complicity in contempt and disturbing public peace and order.
The conflict allegedly began with a disagreement between two patients admitted to the same ward, after one of them asked her roommate to wash herself. The woman, originally from Covasna county, called her husband and relatives, and the situation escalated rapidly.
A passer-by alerted the police after observing a scandal in front of the hospital. When the patrol arrived, the assailants had already left, but the car in which they were travelling was stopped in traffic. At that moment, the seven people involved — five men and two women — became violent towards the police officers, after which they attempted to flee by spreading out across the streets in the area.
All seven were caught and taken to the police headquarters for questioning. The evidence gathered in the case indicates that three of them physically assaulted law enforcement immediately after being intercepted. Two police officers ended up in hospital as a result of the blows received; one of them suffered a fractured nasal bone.
On Wednesday, the prosecutor in the case from the Office of the Prosecutor attached to the Brașov District Court formulated a proposal for preventive arrest for 30 days against the three. The court issued the warrants, and the persons in question were transferred to the Detention and Preventive Arrest Centre of the I.P.J. Brașov.
