Three arrested for drug trafficking in Bucharest: cocaine, ecstasy and methamphetamine seized
DIICOT has detained three people aged between 22 and 53, under investigation for trafficking in high-risk and very high-risk drugs in Bucharest municipality.

Prosecutors at DIICOT ordered, on 9 October 2026, the detention of three suspects aged 22, 23 and 53, under investigation for trafficking in high-risk and very high-risk drugs, according to newsweek.ro. Two of them are members of the same family. The following day, Bucharest Tribunal ordered their preventive arrest for 30 days.
According to the criminal investigation documents, at least from 2024, the 22-year-old suspect procured and sold cocaine, cannabis, ketamine and NEP to consumers in Bucharest, using the "dead drop" method. Initial contact with clients was established exclusively through an encrypted messaging application, and payment was made in cryptocurrency. After negotiating the quantity and price, the suspect would transmit the location where the substances could be collected.
Investigators established that the same suspect, together with the 23-year-old, sold ketamine during July 2026, placing it in a park in sector 4 of the capital.
During searches of the three suspects' residences, prosecutors seized:
- 108 ecstasy tablets
- approximately 160 grammes of cocaine
- cannabis, methamphetamine and MDMA
- over 20 tablets containing the active substance alprazolam
- various containers with liquid substance
- 16,700 lei, 230 euros and 300 dollars
- data storage devices and other evidence items
One of the suspects was also charged with unlawfully carrying out operations with products having psychoactive effects.
Judicial activities were conducted together with police officers from Bucharest's Organised Crime Fighting Brigade and with the support of the Gendarmerie's Special Intervention Brigade.
The persons under investigation enjoy the rights and procedural guarantees provided for by the Code of Criminal Procedure, as well as the presumption of innocence.
