Three men arrested for high-risk drug trafficking in Sibiu
Two men aged 48 were caught red-handed with over 190 ecstasy tablets and 500 grammes of psychoactive substance. A third suspect, aged 34, was detained following a search at Cluj-Napoca.
Red-handed in Sibiu: ecstasy, psychoactive substances and preventive arrest for 30 days
Police from the Organised Crime Combat Service Sibiu, together with prosecutors from DIICOT – Sibiu Territorial Bureau, have documented the criminal activity of three men under investigation for high-risk drug trafficking and illegal operations involving psychoactive substances, according to sibiu100.ro.
According to the evidence produced, a man aged 48 is alleged to have procured, possessed, handled and sold quantities of 4CMC and 4BMC – high-risk drugs and psychoactive products – during the period December 2025 to September 2026, at the price of 500 lei per transaction.
On 16 September, he and a second man, also aged 48, were caught red-handed in Sibiu municipality. Over 190 ecstasy tablets and approximately 500 grammes of N-Ethylnorpentedrone, substances intended for sale, were found on them.
The investigation established that the substances had been procured from a third man, aged 34, who was already under judicial control measure in a separate criminal case. During a search carried out at his residence in Cluj-Napoca municipality, investigators discovered 50 ecstasy tablets similar to those seized from the two 48-year-old men, a quantity of cannabis, precision scales, a grinder, items bearing traces of substance, a sum of money in lei and other items of evidence.
Also on 16 September, prosecutors from DIICOT – Sibiu Territorial Bureau ordered the detention of the three men. The judge for rights and freedoms within Sibiu Tribunal subsequently ordered their preventive arrest for 30 days.
The operation was supported by the Organised Crime Combat Brigade Cluj-Napoca, the Organised Crime Combat Brigade Alba Iulia, the Special Operations Service Sibiu and Cluj, Sibiu Municipality Police, and gendarmes from the Sibiu County Gendarmerie Inspectorate.
The persons under investigation benefit, throughout the criminal proceedings, from the rights and procedural guarantees provided for by the Code of Criminal Procedure, including the presumption of innocence.
