Three dead in Targu Jiu flat: elderly woman had previously reported assault to police
Three people, an 83-year-old woman and two men aged 39 and 40, her nephews, were discovered dead on Wednesday evening in an apartment in the city of Targu Jiu. The bodies showed signs of violence.
A representative of the residents' association from the block on Olari Street called 112 after noticing he could not contact the elderly woman. Police and fire service crews arrived at the scene. The apartment door was opened, and the three people were found inside without vital signs.
Shortly afterwards, specialists in criminal investigations, forensic experts and a prosecutor arrived at the scene and began investigating to clarify the circumstances of the incident.
From the checks carried out it emerged that the octogenarian victim had sought police protection a day earlier. On Tuesday, she had gone to the headquarters of Targu Jiu City Police, accompanied by the block administrator, and had recounted that she was a victim of repeated assaults by her daughter, aged 62, with whom she shared the apartment.
Based on the report, the judges had issued a protection order against the daughter, but without an electronic bracelet, as the elderly woman had explained that she did not know how to use such devices. The elderly woman had promised that she would temporarily move to another street in the city. When investigators tried to communicate the decision to her, she had already left the shared apartment.
The octogenarian also stated that one of her nephews had insulted her approximately two months ago, but there had been no physical altercations between them. A risk assessment document had been drawn up, which had not indicated an imminent danger.
