Bucharest Court of Appeal has admitted in principle a review petition filed by the American rapper. The nine-month prison sentence remains in force for now.

Review petition admitted in principle, sentence unchanged
Bucharest Court of Appeal admitted on Tuesday, 20 October 2026, a review petition filed by American rapper Wiz Khalifa, whose real name is Thomaz Cameron Jibril, according to ProTV News. The court set a new hearing date for 29 October 2026 at 13:00.
The decision does not annul the final nine-month prison sentence handed down on 18 December 2025 by Constanța Court of Appeal in case no. 7777/118/2024.
The court's order notes that, under article 431 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, the court admitted in principle the review petition filed by T.C.J. against the criminal decision no. 1222/P. At the same time, it rejected as inadmissible a second review petition, filed under article 426 lit. h of the Code of Criminal Procedure. The decision was handed down with no right of appeal.
The case concerns possession of drugs for personal consumption and was opened by DIICOT prosecutors following an incident at a festival in Costinești, where the artist smoked cannabis on stage. Subsequently, Wiz Khalifa was sent to trial.
Admission in principle means that the artist's legal arguments will be examined on the merits by the court at the hearing on 29 October. Had the court rejected the petition, the procedure would have ended definitively, with no possibility of appeal.
