Wiz Khalifa Contests Nine-Month Conviction in Romania Again
American rapper Wiz Khalifa is pursuing a new extraordinary legal avenue to overturn his final conviction in Romania. Constanța Court of Appeal is hearing the appeal on 8 October.
Wiz Khalifa Attacks Verdict Again at Constanța Court of Appeal
Lawyers for American rapper Wiz Khalifa have filed a new appeal for annulment, attempting to overturn the final conviction handed down against the artist in Romania, according to Digi24. All previous legal challenges have been rejected, and the case returns to the docket of Constanța Court of Appeal on 8 October.
Constanța Court of Appeal sentenced the rapper to nine months imprisonment with execution at the end of last year for possession of risk drugs. The offence took place at the festival in Costinești in 2024, when Wiz Khalifa smoked a cannabis cigarette on stage. Subsequently, police officers found 18 grammes of cannabis on him.
Following the conviction, the rapper's name appeared on the Romanian Police website under the section "Sought Persons". The official reasoning states that the artist is "condemned to 9 months imprisonment for committing the offence of unlawful possession of risk drugs, for personal consumption", and the basis for the search is a warrant for execution of the prison sentence.
