A 14-year-old girl was subjected to a suspected assault rape at a bus stop at Burlöv's station on Monday. No arrests have been made. According to Sydsvenskan, a man in his mid-20s is said to have approached the girl while she was at the stop at 17:26.
Police have been tight-lipped about details surrounding the incident, but the suspicion is that the man subjected the girl to rape. Several patrols responded to the alarm but failed to locate the suspected perpetrator.
Forensic technicians and a search dog were at the station during Monday evening. Police worked for several hours to secure possible evidence – this could include DNA or fingerprints. It remains unclear whether any usable evidence could be collected.
Several people who were in the area have been interviewed, but it is unclear whether anyone directly witnessed the incident.
So-called assault rapes are uncommon. Of the 287 rape reports made in Malmö during 2024, six cases involved women who were assaulted by unknown perpetrators outdoors. In Burlöv municipality, a total of six rapes were reported in both 2023 and 2024.
