17-year-old dies in sword attack at school in Fagersta, three others injured
An 18-year-old attacked a school in Fagersta on Friday and killed a 17-year-old girl. Three other youths were injured, and the suspect is in police custody.

A 17-year-old girl is the victim of the sword attack at a school in the Swedish town of Fagersta. The newspaper Fagersta-Posten reported this on Saturday morning, citing the victim's family. According to 20 Minuten, other Swedish media outlets, including the news agency TT and Swedish public broadcasting, picked up the report.
The attack occurred on Friday afternoon in Fagersta, north-west of Stockholm. Three other youths were injured in the incident, two of them seriously. One youth has since been discharged from hospital. Two boys aged between 12 and 17 – one of whom required emergency surgery – remain in hospital for inpatient treatment. Their condition is described as stable.
The alarm came in at 14:06. Ten minutes later, the suspect had been overpowered. "At 14:16, the suspect was overpowered and was able to be arrested. During this, police fired shots," according to an official statement. According to tabloid media, the attacker was shot in the leg.
The suspected attacker is an 18-year-old man who was arrested immediately after the incident and has been in police custody since then. According to Swedish public broadcasting, he is said to be a former pupil of the secondary school in question. Nothing is known about the motive so far.
A large police presence was also at the scene on Saturday morning. A spokesman told Swedish public broadcasting that the investigation work had only just begun.
