39-year-old man detained for attempted murder following shooting in Jönköping – children in the residence
Three people were injured in a shooting in Hovslätt, Jönköping. A 39-year-old man has been detained on suspicion of attempted murder and serious weapons offence.
Shooting in Hovslätt: man detained for attempted murder
Three people were injured in a shooting in the Hovslätt area of Jönköping on Thursday evening. A 39-year-old man has now been detained on suspicion of attempted murder, serious weapons offence, serious illegal threats and serious breach of the peace in a home.
– The man is detained and will be questioned once a public defender has been appointed. The police are conducting several investigative measures and have been knocking on doors in the area, says senior prosecutor Julia Rasmussen, who is leading the preliminary investigation.
The two victims are a man and a woman, both in their mid-thirties. The man sustained gunshot wounds and possibly also knife wounds and was seriously injured. The woman was lightly injured, and the police have not yet disclosed what caused her injuries.
The suspected 39-year-old was also seriously injured by knife and received hospital care following the incident.
Children were present in the residence at the time, which has led to the man also being detained for two counts of serious breach of the peace involving children.
According to the prosecutor, those involved knew each other. Aftonbladet reports that the suspected man previously had a restraining order against one of the injured persons. No other person is suspected of any crime in connection with the incident.
