Police carried out a major operation in Nynäshamn south of Stockholm following a suspected serious crime. Two people were taken to hospital – neither with life-threatening injuries.

Göteborgs-Posten reports on an extensive police operation in Nynäshamn, south of Stockholm, following a suspected serious crime. Police pursued a vehicle that skidded or stopped on national highway 73, and the road was closed in both directions.
Two people were injured and transported by ambulance to hospital. Police stated that neither of the injured is assessed to have life-threatening injuries.
Witnesses who spoke to Aftonbladet and Expressen described the operation as exceptionally large.
– We saw around 30 police cars driving at high speed to and from Nynäshamn. I have never seen so many police cars in my entire life. A couple of ambulances too, a witness told Aftonbladet.
– It is a very big thing that has happened. They drove everywhere in Nynäshamn, another witness told Expressen.
At midnight, national highway 73 remained closed between the Älgvik junction and the intersection at Teknikervägen. Police stated on their website that it was not possible to say how long the closure would remain in place. The investigation into the suspected serious crime is ongoing.
