An individual was found dead near a burnt-out vehicle on Åkerbyvägen west of Tenhult during Saturday night. Police suspect the fire was deliberately started and are investigating the case as murder.
SOS Alarm received the call at 02:59. The emergency services were called to county road 842, where a car was ablaze.
Upon arrival, a deceased person was found near the vehicle. The deceased has not yet been identified.
"Our assessment is that the fire was set with intent," said Martina Gradian, spokesperson for the police, to Jönköpings-Posten.
By Saturday afternoon, investigators had left the scene. All that remained were the remains of the destroyed vehicle.
Police have initiated legal proceedings to investigate the death and are seeking witnesses who may have seen anything on the road during the night.
