Brothers acquitted of serious fraud – convicted of bookkeeping offences
Gothenburg District Court has acquitted two brothers of charges of serious fraud. The men had sold shares in a non-listed British company for more than 15 million kronor, which led to prosecution. Although they were acquitted of fraud-related offences, they were convicted of other financial breaches – specifically serious bookkeeping offences.
The brothers' legal representative, Ulrik Smedberg, commented on the outcome in a statement to Göteborgs-Posten. He suggested that the actual perpetrators are likely to be far away and have evaded justice.
