A person was found dead at a car that had burnt out during the night into Saturday on regional road 842 between Barnarp and Tenhult, south of Jönköping.
Police received a report of the fire at around three o'clock in the morning. When the fire service and police arrived at the scene, a deceased person was found at the vehicle.
– We believe the fire was deliberately set, said police spokesperson Martina Gradian to Jönköpings-Posten.
The person has not yet been identified. During Saturday morning, police carried out a crime scene investigation and searched for evidence with the help of dog patrols. The car has since been recovered from the scene.
Police have filed a report for murder due to the unclear circumstances surrounding the death. They are now appealing to the public for tips and observations from the stretch of road between Barnarp and Tenhult during the night.
