Appeals court takes up Norrköping bombings following harsh district court sentences

According to Expressen, the district court in September convicted five young men of two explosions in Norrköping and a third planned attack that was never carried out. All offences were deemed to be part of a common criminal plan linked to the gang constellation Foxtrot.

The explosions took place in the districts of Ljura and Sandbyhov on 23 November last year. The same evening, police stopped a 14-year-old boy who was on his way to an address with a live thermos bomb.

A 34-year-old received the heaviest sentence: 14 years' imprisonment for serious violation of the law on flammable and explosive goods and complicity in serious public destruction on two occasions. A 26-year-old was sentenced to 12 years' imprisonment for, among other things, complicity in serious public destruction and involving minors in criminal activity.

Two men, aged 20 and 21 respectively, were convicted of complicity in serious public destruction and received six and seven years' imprisonment respectively. An 18-year-old was given closed youth care for two years and eight months.

The district court also established that a 14-year-old was guilty of serious public destruction, but since he was not of criminal responsibility age, no sentence was imposed.

The judgment has been appealed and the appeals court hearing concludes on 13 November.
