The five-year-old girl who was subjected to an attack in a playground in Helsingborg has now been discharged from hospital. Witnesses report that the child was stabbed with a knife.
A boy who has not yet turned 15 is pointed out as a suspect for attempted murder. Since the suspect is below the age of criminal responsibility, a previous arrest by police was dismissed.
– It will likely result in a court hearing, says senior prosecutor Gustav Friman.
In such a legal proceeding, the court examines the question of guilt without being able to impose punishment, as Swedish law does not permit penalties for persons under 15 years of age.
The boy has been questioned by investigators, but the prosecutor is unwilling to comment on how the suspect regards the criminal allegation.
