A man in his 30s has been detained after a woman of the same age reported a rape at the Summer meet event.

Police have detained a man in his 30s following a report of sexual assault in Västerås. The victim, a woman of the same age, stated that the assault took place during the car meet Summer meet on 5 July.
According to prosecutor Sofia Hillesöy, who is leading the preliminary investigation, the two had no previous acquaintance with each other. Both were at the same event when the crime is alleged to have taken place.
– There was no relationship between the parties, Hillesöy explains to SVT Nyheter.
The prosecutor is unwilling to disclose the location within the city where the incident occurred at this time.
– The investigation is still in an early stage, so I cannot go into further details right now, she says.
The man is being held in custody on suspicion of rape. The case is under investigation and further information is currently restricted.
