Pupil convicted of cannabis possession – but acquitted of amphetamine offence
According to telgenytt.se, Södertälje District Court convicted a secondary school pupil of a minor drug offence after 1.06 grams of cannabis resin were found in a snus tin on her desk on 12 May 2026. The woman is resident outside Södertälje but studies at a secondary school in the municipality.
The pupil denied the charge and claimed that the drugs belonged to a former boyfriend. She stated that friends would spend time in her room and roll joints, and that she had urged them to remove their belongings because she had previously had problems with drugs.
The district court nonetheless assessed that she had the drugs in her possession and had the opportunity to control them. The court also attached weight to the fact that her own cannabis use indicated that she was aware of the possession.
As regards the second charge – amphetamine use – the woman stated that she had taken the ADHD medication Elvanse, which she had previously been prescribed by a doctor, whilst waiting to renew her prescription. The district court accepted the explanation and acquitted her on that count.
The sentence was set at 30 day fines of 50 kronor, totalling 1,500 kronor.
