Court of Appeal increases sentences for cannabis cultivation outside Helsingborg
The Court of Appeal over Scania and Blekinge has raised prison sentences for eight people linked to a large-scale cannabis cultivation. Three others are acquitted due to insufficient evidence.
Eight receive harsher sentences after cannabis factory in industrial building
The Court of Appeal over Scania and Blekinge has increased prison sentences for eight people involved in a large-scale cannabis cultivation outside Helsingborg, reports Sydsvenskan.
The cultivation was discovered in an industrial building in the area. Police traced the operation after rubbish bags containing cannabis remains and cultivation equipment were found at various locations in north-western Scania and Småland over an extended period.
A total of twelve people were convicted in Helsingborg District Court for varying degrees of involvement. The Court of Appeal assesses that the drug offences committed by the eight have a higher penalty value than what the district court established.
Three of the accused are, however, acquitted in the Court of Appeal, as the evidence is not considered sufficient. This concerns two people whom the district court convicted of aiding and abetting serious drug offences and one person convicted of drug offence, according to the Court of Appeal's press release.
