An old mine shaft in Norberg has been cordoned off by police following the initiation of a preliminary investigation into suspected murder. It is the same location where a woman was found seriously injured and suffering from hypothermia in a high-profile attempted murder case in spring 2022.
According to police press spokesperson Stefan Larsson, new information has come to light that needs to be verified. The police's cold case unit is now carrying out investigative measures at the site.
"Information has come to our attention that means we need to investigate the area," says Stefan Larsson.
The work is not connected to any recently committed crime. The terrain around the mine shaft is difficult and dangerous, and police are considering using a drone if it is deemed unsafe to descend into the shaft.
Police decline to comment on whether any person has been informed of suspicion or whether a body has been found, citing the confidentiality of the preliminary investigation.
