The rescue service was called at 05.27 on Monday morning to a villa in Bollebygd that was engulfed in flames. Later that evening, at 21.45, police announced that they had found remains in the rubble that are believed to be from a human, according to Expressen.

The deceased remains have not yet been able to be identified. However, close relatives of the person believed to be involved have been informed.

According to Peter Apelqvist, duty investigation commander at the police, there are suspicions that the fire did not start of its own accord.

– We rule out a natural cause of the fire and are working from the assumption that someone has caused the fire deliberately, he tells Borås Tidning.

A preliminary investigation into arson has been opened. At present, there is no person who has been arrested or pointed out as a suspect. Technical investigations are ongoing to clarify how the fire started.
