Luxury yacht with Russian connections seized in Båstad

Swedish police and the Coast Guard have seized a luxury yacht in Båstad, reports Expressen. The seizure was carried out during the night into Wednesday, and on Thursday the vessel was towed away by the Coast Guard, according to local newspaper Nu 7Dagar Bjäre.

The boat is believed to have a Russian owner, according to SVT, and the authorities suspect it was purchased with money from criminal activity. However, no one has been notified of suspicion of any crime.

– There are no suspicions that any crime has occurred on the boat or that it would involve narcotics or anything similar, says Evelina Olsson, press spokesperson for the Southern Police, to Nu 7Dagar Bjäre.

Police state that the luxury yacht has a "high value" but do not wish to specify the exact amount. According to the local newspaper, boats of the same model are sold for around ten million kronor on the second-hand market.

The seizure is supported by the law on independent forfeiture. According to information, the boat is said to have been moored in the harbour year-round for several years.
