A man in his 30s was sentenced to nine years in prison after stabbing a police officer in the face with a knife during an apartment intervention in Orsa in March.

A man in his 30s has been sentenced to nine years in prison for attempted murder of a police officer in Orsa, according to gp.se citing SVT Dalarna.
Police were called to an apartment disturbance in Orsa in March this year. When they arrived, the man opened the door and stabbed one of the officers in the face with a knife. The district court established that there was a concrete and not insignificant risk that the officer, who sustained minor injuries, could have died from the stab wound.
During the intervention, police fired live ammunition and used a stun gun against the man.
In addition to the attempted murder, the man was also convicted of violence and threats against a public official, as well as gross unlawful threats against a woman in the apartment. According to Dala-Demokraten, the man was heavily under the influence of drugs at the time.
The man has also been ordered to pay damages to several of the affected police officers.
