A man was found dead in the water in Leksand municipality during Saturday afternoon, according to SVT Nyheter. Members of the public discovered the body and alerted police.
On its website, police stated that criminal activity cannot be ruled out, and that a preliminary investigation into murder has therefore been opened.
Police press spokesperson Anders Dahlman stated that the exact circumstances are covered by preliminary investigation secrecy and therefore cannot be publicly disclosed.
During Saturday, a technical examination was conducted at the scene, which according to police may be supplemented. Routine measures such as witness interviews are also being planned.
– We are building a timeline now to see what the person was doing previously, it is a large puzzle to piece together, said Dahlman.
The man's relatives have been notified of the death.
