The murder was committed in November 2025. Two men were arrested and remanded in custody as suspects, but were released shortly after due to lack of evidence. The investigation hit a dead end.
The decisive discovery was made after police compared emergency calls with the vehicle's average speed along E45. At Oxåsen, the vehicle had a noticeably lower speed, which prompted investigators to search the location. The knife was found there. DNA from the murder victim has been recovered from the weapon.
– I mean that we can link it to the murder, and to the three men who were travelling in the same car, says Linder.
The motive is said to be revenge for earlier conflicts between two groups. According to the prosecutor, the three men travelled to Säffle with the aim of carrying out retaliation.
The two who had been remanded in custody are now charged with murder. The third person is charged with aiding and abetting murder. Two additional people – from the other group – are suspected of preparation for murder and preparation for grievous bodily harm.
Linder describes the evidence as strong.
– It is a thorough investigation. The discovery of the suspected murder weapon really moved the investigation forward, he says.
