Alleged murderer took part in search and contacted private detective
Google News SE — Crime (sv) reports on new information in the murder investigation in Kalmar county, where a 35-year-old man is suspected of the murder of his German girlfriend.
The German woman was reported missing by her family at the end of July and was found dead in Kalmar county on 7 August. Her boyfriend is suspected of murder and aggravated desecration of a grave and was arrested in Germany after Swedish authorities issued a European arrest warrant.
Expressen reports, citing German newspaper Bild, that the man actively took part in the search for the woman after his return to Germany. He is also said to have contacted German private detective and TV personality Jürgen Trovato, who became involved in the search through social media.
According to Bild, the man appeared in a TikTok livestream in which he claimed to be helping in the search for his girlfriend.
– This guy was only interested in seeing if we and our followers had any leads, Trovato told Bild, according to Expressen.
Trovato states that he reacted early to the man's behaviour.
– The boyfriend seemed suspicious right away, he told the newspaper.
No date has yet been set for when the man can be taken to Sweden to stand trial. Deputy prosecutor Linda Caneus has previously confirmed that the suspected murder took place in Kalmar county and that one person is reasonably suspected. The investigation secrecy has otherwise been extensive.
A cottage in the Målilla area has been identified as significant in the investigation. When Vimmerby Tidning visited the property at the end of last week, the premises were still cordoned off.
