Drug dealing at campsite exposed – two men sentenced to prison

Drug operation at Kärrdal camping shut down – lengthy prison sentences

A police-monitored car park in Sollentuna in February led to the exposure of a drug crime centred at Rösjöbadens camping in Kärrdal, according to Aftonbladet. Four people have now been convicted in Attunda district court, two of them to sentences of several years in prison.

It was a police officer who observed a suspected drug transaction at the car park. Colleagues stopped the suspected buyers – a man and a woman – and found 300 cannabis vapes in their car.

The monitoring officer simultaneously followed the other vehicle, which was found to belong to the suspected dealers. With the help of called-in colleagues, one man was arrested at a caravan and another man inside a house on the campsite.

Over one kilogramme of cocaine and five kilogrammes of cannabis

During the arrest, police found that the two men jointly possessed more than one kilogramme of cocaine, five kilogrammes of cannabis, 299 cannabis vapes and 22 tramadol tablets. In addition, drug packaging equipment and approximately 120,000 kronor in cash were seized.

The men were arrested on suspicion of serious drug offences given the large quantities involved.

District court ruling

All four were prosecuted and have now been convicted. The buying couple denied the charges but were found guilty of drug offences and sentenced to suspended sentences and 90 day fines each.

The two dealers at the campsite were convicted of serious drug offences. One received five years in prison, the other six years.

One of the men admitted to all charges. The other acknowledged possession of 15.99 grammes of cocaine but denied all other criminal conduct. The district court considered that the evidence was sufficient for a conviction: the man was arrested red-handed whilst handling cocaine, and messages from a seized telephone showed conversations about large-scale drug dealing with ongoing accounts of revenues and planning of distribution.

Campsite owner: "I could never have imagined anything like this"

Sia Winter, who operates Rösjöbadens camping, states that he was shocked when police arrived and arrested the two men.

– They were completely ordinary guys, I could never have imagined anything like this. We check when guests check in and if we have the slightest suspicion we turn people away, but with these two we had no reason to suspect anything, says Winter.
