Stabbing at taxi office in Malmö triggered by deleted message
A 39-year-old taxi driver has been sentenced to eleven months' imprisonment for assault, reports Sydsvenskan. The incident occurred in mid-February, when a quarrel in the taxi drivers' shared chat group escalated into physical violence.
According to submissions to the court, the 39-year-old felt offended after a message was deleted in the chat. He contacted the colleague to meet and discuss the matter. The two men met at an office in Malmö, where the situation deteriorated into a fight – which ended with the 39-year-old stabbing his colleague with a knife in the abdomen.
Malmö District Court assessed the evidence as sufficient for a conviction, despite the defendant denying the offence. The court classified the assault as the normal grade, taking into account that the colleague's injuries were limited and that the knife blade measured only a few centimetres.
