A 15-year-old girl died on Friday after being struck by a car in Malmö. The driver, a man in his 40s, was remanded in custody on Monday and admits to reckless driving according to his defence lawyer.

A 15-year-old girl died on Friday after being struck by a car in the Södervärn district of Malmö, SVT Nyheter reports. The man behind the wheel was arrested shortly after the accident and remanded in custody on Monday, suspected of gross negligence causing death and gross reckless driving.
The driver, who is in his 40s, admits to the crime.
– He is devastated by what has happened, but he admits that he was reckless in traffic, says defence lawyer Sanna Herlin to SVT Nyheter Skåne.
Police were called to Södervärn shortly after 15:30 on Friday. By 17:00, police confirmed that the girl had died.
Witnesses reportedly told police that they saw the driver driving recklessly at several locations in Malmö during the Friday afternoon before the accident.
– We have received calls from witnesses who have seen the car at several places in Malmö, says Joakim Palmgren, police spokesman.
The man has previously been convicted of reckless driving, after driving too fast at a roadworks site and colliding with several road signs and a concrete mixer. He was also recently charged with threatening a public official, after allegedly threatening to shoot a police officer in the head.
At Europaportens school in Malmö, where the girl studied, the flag was flown at half-mast on Monday.
– We held a memorial service in the schoolyard for the whole school during the morning, says Magdalena Fredriksson, head teacher at Europaportens school.
