Swedish border control officers have seized more than six tonnes of illegal substances in 2026. A single discovery in Scania broke all previous records.

Sweden's border authority reports that during the first six months of the year it has seized over six tonnes of illegal substances. This is almost a tonne more than the corresponding period in 2025, according to fresh information published by Sydsvenskan.
The largest single find was made in January at a fruit trading company in Helsingborg. There, just over three tonnes of white powder were discovered – the largest amount of cocaine ever found in a Swedish seizure.
Tablets have also been flowing in in large quantities. Approximately 2.7 million pills have been seized, with tramadol accounting for the majority at over 1.6 million units. The remaining pills belong mainly to the category of sleeping and tranquillising medicines.
An interesting detail in the statistics is that the amount of heroin, amphetamine and cannabis that was stopped has actually decreased compared to the same half-year last year.
