Žurnal24 reports that today, shortly after 3 p.m., police intervened at Leon Štuklja Square in central Maribor. Officers cordoned off the area with police tape and commenced an investigation into the circumstances of the incident.
According to Večer, eyewitnesses at the scene described an altercation between several people. There were also reports of alleged gunshots and a knife, and information emerged that one of those involved may have left the scene after being struck.
Maribor Police Directorate confirmed that it had been notified of the incident. It explained that multiple patrols were dispatched to the scene, who conducted an intensive search for the people involved and gathered information. Regarding reports from some media outlets of arrests, officers clarified: "Officers conducted several identity-verification procedures at the scene."
One person sought medical assistance for injuries which, based on initial findings, are not life-threatening, the police directorate announced. Officers continue operations in the area around the square and appeal to residents not to approach the scene unnecessarily and to follow police instructions.
