Cocaine and heroin seized in Ljubljana; 30-year-old Algerian arrested during sale
Ljubljana police arrested several suspects dealing drugs over the weekend. They seized cocaine, heroin, cash and mobile phones.
Weekend marked by drugs: arrests in central Ljubljana and on Metelkova
Over the past weekend, Ljubljana police dealt with several cases of illegal drug trafficking, reports Delo.
In the first case, police stopped a 20-year-old driver of a passenger vehicle in central Ljubljana, with a 19-year-old passenger also in the car. "During the procedure, they found more than 70 packages containing a white powdery substance, which is suspected to be cocaine, two packages of powder suspected to be heroin, a package of a substance suspected to be the prohibited drug cannabis, and several tablets suspected to contain steroids," the Ljubljana Police Directorate said.
Together they had approximately 5,000 euros in cash on them and several mobile phones, which police seized. On the basis of a court order, they subsequently carried out house searches at the addresses where both suspects lived and seized several hundred euros more in cash. Criminal charges will be filed against both to the competent prosecutor's office on suspicion of unlawful production and trafficking in prohibited drugs.
In the second case, police officers on patrol in the Metelkova area, carrying out tasks in a security-sensitive area, detected the sale of prohibited drugs. A 30-year-old Algerian national handed over an aluminium package containing approximately one gramme of white powdery substance, suspected to be cocaine, to a citizen in exchange for payment.
"During the procedure, the suspect handed over another package with white powdery substance," police explained. The man was detained, and after information was gathered, he was brought before an investigating judge on a criminal charge. The judge ordered his detention.
Police continue to gather information in both cases.
