Google News SI — Crime (sl) reports that police received a notification the previous evening of gunshots or shooting in the Grosuplje area. As there was suspicion of the use of dangerous firearm, several police patrols were dispatched to the scene.
Through gathering information, police established that a 27-year-old man discharged at least two rounds from a firearm in a public place in the settlement. During the procedure, officers found and seized a Beretta pistol and a larger quantity of ammunition from the suspect, who is suspected of the criminal offence of causing general danger, for which he did not have the appropriate authorisation.
The seized weapon and ammunition will be sent for further analysis. Police continue gathering information and will inform the competent state prosecutor's office of all findings upon completion of the procedure. In addition to criminal proceedings, they are also conducting proceedings for an offence due to violations of the Public Order Act and the Weapons Act.
Police emphasise that they respond seriously and immediately to every report of shooting. Tomaž Tomaževič, spokesperson for public relations at the Ljubljana Police Directorate, stated: "We warn citizens against using firearms in a manner that could endanger the life, health or property of people. Do not fire into the air, in nature or in areas where you could injure someone. Any use of a firearm must be lawful and safe."
Police warn that reckless shooting can cause serious injury or even death, and call for responsible conduct and consistent compliance with regulations. Anyone who notices unlawful or dangerous use of a firearm should immediately notify police on 113.
