A man linked to shots fired in Croatian Valdebek was discovered dead by Slovenian police officers without signs of life following an all-day operation in the south-east of the country.

The Novo Mesto Police Administration announced that on Saturday evening, officers discovered the body of a 41-year-old man from Croatia in a residential building in the area of Uršne sele. This same individual was the subject of an international search, as authorities in the neighbouring country suspected him of seriously injuring a sixty-year-old resident with a registered firearm the day before.
Events began on Thursday in the settlement of Valdebek near Pula, where an unknown person fired a shot at an individual near the on-duty services. The injured person was taken to a local hospital, and Croatian investigators quickly identified the suspected attacker. The public was warned not to approach him, as he was believed to be armed.
On Friday evening, the same man visited a petrol station in Bela krajina and, under threat, took away money and tobacco. He left the scene in a commercial vehicle, and nobody was physically injured.
The following morning, officers spotted him in the vicinity of Travni Dol and Dobindol. Due to potential danger, a special unit, air support, and road closures were deployed in the search. According to unconfirmed reports, he was said to be holding an elderly married couple in one of the homes.
As evening approached, he withdrew into a building in the settlement of Uršne sele. Units first secured the people inside, then found his body in the building in the late hours. Residents were informed that the threat had passed. Detectives are still investigating the cause of death.
