Through gathering information, police officers established that a 27-year-old man fired at least two shots in a public place in a settlement there. Officers then seized a Beretta pistol and several rounds of ammunition from the suspect for which he did not have the appropriate authorisation. The firearm and ammunition will be sent for further analysis.
Police are continuing to gather information and will inform the competent state prosecution following the conclusion of the proceedings. In addition to criminal proceedings for the criminal act of causing general danger, they have also initiated proceedings against the suspect for a violation of the Public Order and Peace Act and the Weapons Act.
Tomaž Tomaževič, public relations representative of the Ljubljana Police Directorate, emphasised that police respond seriously and immediately to every report of shooting. "We warn citizens not to use firearms in a manner that could endanger the life, health or property of people. Do not shoot into the air, in nature or in areas where you could injure someone. Any use of firearms must be lawful and safe," said Tomaževič.
Police stress that reckless shooting can cause serious injury or even death. Anyone who notices unlawful or dangerous use of firearms should immediately notify police on 113. The investigation into the incident in the Grosuplje area is continuing, and further information will be available following the completion of analyses of the seized items.
