Three cyclists, three crashes in one weekend: cocaine, alcohol and helicopter
Over the weekend, police dealt with three crashes involving cyclists – a positive cocaine test in Parecag, injuries involving alcohol in the Gorenjska region, and a serious crash involving a minor.

Police dealt with three separate crashes on Saturday involving cyclists – each at a different end of Slovenia, each with its own circumstances. According to 24ur, the consequences ranged from fractures to serious injuries, and one of the cyclists was under the influence of cocaine.
Parecag: cyclist failed to stop, test positive for cocaine
The Koper Police Directorate reported that on Saturday afternoon a 41-year-old cyclist was seriously injured in Parecag. He had ridden down a slope from a dead-end street towards the main road through the settlement. At the intersection, he neither stopped nor braked and entered the road, where a 29-year-old driver of a private car had correctly approached from the right.
The cyclist collided with the front left part of the vehicle, fell on the windscreen and then onto the roadway. He fractured his wrist and was taken to Izola General Hospital. Police ordered a quick drug test – this tested positive for cocaine. The cyclist refused an expert examination, so he faces a fine.
Podkuže: 47-year-old under the influence of alcohol fell near Kranjska Gora
Kranjska Gora police dealt with a fall by a 47-year-old cyclist in the Podkuže area shortly after 18:00. The cyclist was riding from Kranjska Gora towards Mojstrana when, due to excessive speed, he lost control and fell. He sustained minor injuries.
An alcohol test showed 0.60 milligrammes of alcohol per litre of exhaled air. After care at the scene, an ambulance took him to Jesenice General Hospital. Police are conducting a misdemeanour procedure against him.
Soriška Planina: serious injury to minor, rescue by helicopter
That same afternoon, shortly before 18:00, a mountain rescue team from GRZS Brnik, which included a police officer from the mountain police unit, intervened at a cycling park on Soriška Planina. A minor cyclist fell whilst descending a downhill mountain bike trail and was seriously injured.
After first aid was provided at the scene, he was transported by helicopter of the Police Air Unit to University Medical Centre Ljubljana. Mountain rescuers from GRS Škofja Loka also participated in the rescue. Police will document the incident appropriately, the Kranj Police Directorate reported.
