Readers report repeated scenes of drug use in the park by the library in Murska Sobota. Police have seized cannabis six times in this area this year.

Drug use at Murska Sobota library concerns residents and visitors
Google News SI — Crime (sl) reports that readers of Sobotainfo have in recent weeks again drawn attention to inappropriate scenes in the park by the Regional and Study Library Murska Sobota, where individuals are reportedly using banned drugs in broad daylight.
Dissatisfaction is also growing among residents of the new apartment complex Zeleni dvor in the immediate vicinity of the park. According to them, they are literally facing this problem in front of their homes.
Six cannabis seizures in city centre
Police officers from Murska Sobota Police Station have seized banned drugs six times this year in the narrow city centre – primarily in the park and by the library. In all cases, it was cannabis.
On the same area, they have also dealt with two criminal offences of unauthorised production and trafficking of banned drugs under Article 186 of the Criminal Code this year.
Despite these figures, Murska Sobota Police Headquarters emphasise that they do not detect an increased number of seizures in this area this year.
Police: we have not received reports in recent weeks
Whilst Sobotainfo readers describe repeated scenes, police officers according to their own account have not received any report in recent weeks about the presence of banned drug users in this area.
According to police explanation, this does not mean the area remains without supervision. As Murska Sobota Police Headquarters reported, they regularly conduct controls in the city area to prevent and detect offences and criminal acts.
"We conduct controls through various forms of police work, including observation services and patrols. Police duties are carried out both in uniform and in civilian clothes," the headquarters explained.
Supervision will continue in the future.
Problem present for several years
The park by the Regional and Study Library has been under scrutiny for years due to the presence and use of banned substances. Sobotainfo has reported citizens' warnings multiple times – they described scenes of drug use during daytime and the presence of individuals near the library, market and other frequently visited points in the centre of Murska Sobota.
This year's warnings also show that the problem remains open for part of the local residents and visitors to the area.
Police call for reports
Police are calling on citizens to report specific incidents, as only in this way can they examine individual cases and take appropriate action.
