Police operation Hawk uncovers organised fraud worth millions of euros
According to ta3.com, the May police operation codenamed Hawk has uncovered organised economic criminal activity in western Slovakia with preliminary losses exceeding €3.7 million. Several suspects were detained in the Trenčín and Bratislava regions.
The operation was carried out by officers of the Criminal Police Department of the Regional Directorate of the Police Force (KR PZ) Trenčín in cooperation with the Financial Administration Criminal Office and the Criminal Police Department of the Regional Directorate of the Police Force Bratislava.
"During the said operation, several suspects were detained, more than 15 house searches and searches of other premises were carried out, with numerous items of importance to criminal proceedings being seized," said Petra Klenková, regional police spokeswoman for Trenčín.
Seized were several luxury vehicles and funds in bank accounts. "In the said case, preliminary losses of more than €3.7 million have been documented so far," Klenková added. The information was released on Monday 1 June.
