Fraud involving fake cryptocurrency investment costs Bratislavan his savings

A man from Bratislava lost €4,900 after handing over his internet banking login credentials to an unknown man. The case is currently being investigated by Bratislava police officers, according to the portal koktejl.azet.sk.

The story began in October 2025, when the victim, following communication with a person identifying themselves as Josef Krum, sent €250 to a bank account held in Germany — under the pretext of investing in cryptocurrency and with the promise of future profit.

"A year later, an unknown man identifying himself as Ján Moskal contacted him and informed him that his investment had increased in value to €13,500. The victim provided the unknown man with his internet banking login credentials, payment card data and other security information, as this was allegedly necessary for the proceeds to be paid out," Bratislava region police explained.

The following day, the man discovered that his payment card had been blocked. In the meantime, an unknown person had withdrawn €4,900 from his account — at the railway station in Leopoldov.

On this occasion, police once again warn the public: people should not send money or hand over valuable items to unknown persons, should not provide document data, verification codes or open links and should not install applications recommended by unknown individuals. "If you suspect fraud, immediately contact your bank and the police," police stated.
