Operation Valec in Poprad: three men charged with methamphetamine trafficking
Elite police officers conducted raids in Poprad and Svit on Tuesday, 7 July. Three men aged 36 to 44 face charges of unauthorised trafficking in methamphetamine.

As reported by Aktuality, a police special operations unit carried out a large-scale anti-drug operation in Poprad and Svit in the early morning hours on Tuesday, 7 July. As part of the operation codenamed Valec, detectives conducted four house searches and seven searches of other premises.
During the raids, police detained four individuals and secured key evidence. An investigator from the National Anti-Drug Unit of the Police Corps Presidium subsequently charged three men aged 36 to 44 with the offence of unauthorised manufacture and trafficking in narcotic and psychotropic substances.
According to police findings to date, the group had consistently supplied customers and end users with methamphetamine — known as pervitín — directly in Poprad and its wider surrounding area. During the searches, police seized a quantity of electronics in addition to drugs, principally mobile telephones.
The investigator has already submitted a motion for remand in custody of the three accused and presented it to the prosecutor of the District Prosecutor's Office in Poprad. Should they be found guilty in court, they face sentences of between seven and fifteen years' imprisonment.
The implementation of Operation Valec involved a broad team of services. In addition to operatives from the anti-drug unit, officers from the Prešov Rapid Response Police Unit, Poprad detectives, technicians from the Office of Forensic Techniques, and a dog handler from Bardejov participated.
