On Sunday during the night, a police patrol in the village of Ľubica in Kežmarok district noticed a private car without brake lights. After stopping the vehicle, it emerged that the twenty-two-year-old local man not only had no driving licence with him, but also had a court-ordered ban on operating motor vehicles valid until January 2028.
According to information provided by Jana Ligdayová, the Prešov regional police spokeswoman, the young man immediately drew attention with absent-minded behaviour and dilated pupils. A rapid test for narcotics and psychotropic substances showed positive results for methamphetamine and amphetamine. Biological material was subsequently collected from him at a medical facility for further examination.
An authorised member of the Kežmarok District Traffic Inspection charged the man with the criminal offence of obstructing the execution of an official decision. Police officers restricted his personal freedom and placed him in police custody. Police will decide on the further course of the case in the coming days.
