Two men from Bánovce face charges for drug trafficking

On Thursday 2 July, law enforcement officers stopped a personal Audi A6 vehicle near the village of Brezolupy. They did so based on operational intelligence suggesting that the passengers might be involved in illegal trade in addictive substances. The vehicle contained five people.

During an inspection, officers found a package with a white crystalline substance on a 54-year-old passenger. Laboratory tests subsequently confirmed it was pervitin. A 40-year-old fellow passenger was found to be carrying a bag of marijuana and another with methamphetamine.

Police established that both men were to sell these substances further in Bánovce nad Bebravou. An investigator therefore charged them with illegal manufacture and trading in narcotic and psychotropic substances. At the same time, he requested the court to remand both men in custody.
