The Specialised Criminal Court found the Communist Party of Slovakia and seven members of its Central Committee guilty of the crime of founding, supporting and promoting a movement aimed at suppressing fundamental rights and freedoms.

The Specialised Criminal Court in Slovakia has found the Communist Party of Slovakia (KSS) and seven members of its Central Committee guilty of the crime of founding, supporting and promoting a movement aimed at suppressing fundamental rights and freedoms. This was reported by the conservative daily Postoj.
Each of the convicted members of the KSS Central Committee's leadership received a fine of 1,000 euros (approximately 24,000 Czech crowns) or an alternative sentence of 12 months' deprivation of liberty.
The party itself as a legal entity must also pay a fine of 3,000 euros (over 72,000 Czech crowns). Neither the members of the Central Committee nor the political party appealed against the verdict, which is thus final.
The controversial billboard campaign by the KSS took place in 2021 on the occasion of the hundredth anniversary of the party's founding. The posters featured the slogan "Without socialism it won't work!" accompanied by the hammer and sickle symbol.
