Checks at eastern Slovak airports revealed multiple violations including the use of forged Latvian documents.

In week 28 of this year, border police officers at airports in Bratislava, Košice and Poprad inspected a total of 75,783 passengers. Of these, almost 37,400 were entering the country and over 38,300 were leaving. The results were reported by spokesman of the Police Corps Presidium Roman Hájek, as reported by the Korzár portal.
The highest number of checks took place in Bratislava, where officers verified the identity of 55,759 travellers. Košice airport recorded 16,251 individuals and Poprad 3,773.
Police officers recorded numerous incidents during their duty. At all three facilities, they tracked down a total of 31 persons and items. In Košice, they discovered three individuals who were listed in wanted person registries.
In Poprad, they encountered two Georgian nationals who attempted to cross the border with fraudulent Latvian passports. Upon more detailed inspection, it emerged that the foreigners were using a fictitious identity. Their attempt at illegal entry was unsuccessful.
In Košice, three persons were also unable to board their scheduled flight at the instruction of the carrier. Police officers also assisted in the return of a Slovak citizen as part of readmission and in a medical flight with a sick person. Officers in Poprad supervised public order during the RomasummerFest 2026 event.
