Student kills 61-year-old teacher at school in Slovakia
A minor student fatally stabbed a teacher and injured two other people at a school in Stáškův. Police are conducting a manhunt to locate the perpetrator.

According to Newsit.gr, a 61-year-old teacher lost her life on the morning of Tuesday, 29 September 2026, following an attack by a minor student at a school in the town of Stáškův, in north-western Slovakia.
According to emergency services, the student stabbed the teacher in the chest, resulting in her succumbing to her injuries. The perpetrator then attacked two other people: a 44-year-old woman and a child, who is being treated in critical condition.
After the attack, the minor fled. Authorities launched a manhunt to locate him, and later announced that he no longer poses a threat to the public. The possible motive for the attack has not been disclosed, whilst investigations are ongoing to determine whether the perpetrator acted alone.
Slovakia's president Péter Pellegrini stated that he was "deeply saddened by the tragic incident" and extended condolences to the victim's family, as well as to Prime Minister Róbert Fico. "Such events serve as a serious warning for our entire society," Pellegrini emphasised, adding: "We need more calm, respect and mutual appreciation."
