Home search in Bánovce uncovers methamphetamine, man faces charges

As reported by Google News SK — Crime (sk), a Bánovce police investigator has initiated criminal proceedings and charged a 44-year-old man with the crime of unlawful manufacture and trafficking in a narcotic and psychotropic substance.

The man unlawfully possessed methamphetamine in a flat on one of the housing estates in Bánovce nad Bebravou from an unspecified time until the morning of 26 August. Trenčín regional police spokeswoman Ingrid Krajčíková informed the TASR news agency about this on Wednesday.

"Police officers during the home search conducted recovered items related to the criminal activity in question. Subsequent preliminary expert examination confirmed the presence of the active substance methamphetamine, and from the recovered amount it was established that this is capable of affecting the consumer's psyche in normal usage," Krajčíková stated.

The investigator arrested the suspect and placed him in police custody. At the time of arrest, however, the District Court Prievidza issued an order for the man to be transferred to a prison facility to serve a sentence of deprivation of liberty for other criminal activity — the man was subsequently escorted there directly. Krajčíková added that if found guilty of this offence, he faces a sentence of one to six years' deprivation of liberty.
