In May 2019, fifteen-year-old basketball player Tomáš Teličák lost his life. The incident took place in a spacious flat on the Vlčince housing estate in Žilina. Behind the act was his acquaintance Judita Konečná, whom the court sentenced to twelve years and four months behind bars. This is the highest possible sentence for individuals under eighteen years old.
At the time of the tragedy, the young athlete was only fifteen. The girl who inflicted the injuries that led to his death was sixteen. To this day, it has not been clarified what motivated her to commit such an act. She also refused to speak about it during legal proceedings.
At the beginning of the investigation, there was speculation about a foreign person in work clothes who was allegedly in the flat. Later, however, it turned out that nobody from outside had entered. The evidence material also included a recording from the emergency number and telephone records of the convicted woman. Experts established that the injuries on her limbs were caused by attacking, not by defending herself.
