Juvenile Judita Konečná to serve over twelve years for the murder of her friend in Žilina
In May 2019, the killing of a fifteen-year-old athlete took place in a flat on the Žilina Vlčince housing estate. The victim was basketball player Tomáš Teličák. Behind the deed was his acquaintance Judita Konečná, who was sixteen years old at the time of the incident.
Initial information from the investigation pointed to a search for a foreign man in work clothes. However, it gradually emerged that the attacker had not left the flat. Police therefore accused Tomáš's girlfriend.
Key evidence in the proceedings included a recording from the emergency line and data from her mobile device. Expert reports additionally confirmed that the injuries on her hands occurred directly during the attack, not in self-defence.
The court ultimately sentenced Konečná to twelve years and four months behind bars. This is the highest sentencing framework for juveniles. The accused denied her guilt and the reason why the young man died remains unexplained to this day.
