A driver of a single-track Honda motorcycle failed to submit to a check in Budmerice on Sunday afternoon. Instead, he accelerated and began a reckless escape from uniformed officers.

The rider ignored the police patrol's signals. He rapidly accelerated and headed through several municipalities. He passed through Báhoň, Kaplna and Blatné, with a multi-member police operation launched in pursuit. Several teams became involved in the action, attempting to stop him.

The entire situation ended only in the Senec region. After stopping the vehicle, the driver attempted to flee into nearby bushes. With the help of witnesses, however, officers located him and detained him using coercive measures.

According to a statement from bratislava police spokesperson Lukáš Pecka, it is a thirty-six-year-old man named Jozef from Pezinok district. Apart from having no driving licence, the court had previously imposed on him a ban on driving motor vehicles until the end of the century.

A breath test revealed that the man was under the influence. The device recorded a value higher than one per mille. An authorised police officer initiated criminal prosecution against him for two offences – obstructing the execution of a court decision and endangerment whilst under the influence of a narcotic substance.
