Betliar municipality in Rožňava district lost approximately 100,000 euros through fraud after unknown perpetrators deceived the local mayor.
According to information from the TERAZ.sk portal, thanks to measures taken to date and a timely complaint about the bank transfers, it was possible to secure the return of approximately 20,000 euros back to the municipal account. Further information about the remaining funds is not yet available.
Police are investigating the case. Details about the method used by the perpetrators to deceive the mayor have not yet been disclosed.
